Fewer Injuries Reported in 2020

For the TXOGA Workers’ Comp Safety Group the number of injury claims declined significantly in 2020 compared to the prior year. Injury costs, as measured by claims incurred within the Safety Group, decreased by over 50 percent. 

Given the reduction in oil and gas activity due COVID-19, it is difficult to determine how much of the improved injury performance is due to safer work practices.

Compared to 2019, the number of claims in 2020 related to motor vehicle, struck-by and strain injuries declined most significantly. In past years these injuries were typically more frequent and most costly. Slip/Trip/Fall injuries were typically the most frequent
